As I thought about things to write about this week, I, of course, considered the shooting in Las Vegas. Such a tragedy. So much death and destruction. So much suffering. So many lives taken senselessly. So many wounded. The physical, mental and emotional damage will take a very long time to heal. Now is the time to pray for the people who have been both directly and indirectly impacted by this shooting, not just merely talk about them. I’m sure that I will have ample time to talk about this on some future date.
Then of course, I considered talking about Puerto Rico and the storm damage down there, or the damage to the other Caribbean islands. Once again, so many people have lost so much, not to speak of the loss of life. Then, of course, there is Nate, which is now a Tropical Storm but has left its own trail of damage. Yes, hurricanes have certainly been a subject of much discussion tis year.
Then there was another subject I considered talking about, but for now I “prefer not to say” what that was all about. (Perhaps we will talk about it in the next week or two.) The simple truth is, there is much going on in this world that we live in. Now I realize that the Bible teaches us, that as Christians, we do not belong to this world and that it is not our home, that we are just passing through. But, while we are here, let’s try to make a difference, let’s try to help some hurting soul. Let’s pray for those who are hurting, wounded and in some cases even hungry. Let’s give of our time, our talents and our resources. We may not be able to save the world, but perhaps we can help save someone. -Pastor Tim
