Last week, as I wrote “Saying Goodbye to our Heroes”, I had no Idea that this week our nation would be saying goodbye to one of the most influential men of the 20th century. Yes, the evangelist Billy Graham has also gone on to his eternal reward. According to christianitytoday.com throughout his ministry he preached to more than 80 million people (not counting the countless millions he reached over the airwaves and in films) and saw almost 3 million of them come down the aisle.
Billy Graham was a counselor to presidents and yet he had the ability to relate to the common man and most importantly he had the ability to present the Gospel in a clear and simple form so that all could understand it. Over the last couple of days and for the next few days the death and funeral of Billy Graham has and will be a point of interest on the news, but as with all things in the news, this will soon be pushed aside and forgotten about. Yet, this is not the end of the story. His life and ministry continues, and his impact in this world will go on for generations and his eternal reward will last for all eternity.
In many ways we feel that we suffered another great loss, but as I heard it put the other day, we haven’t lost anyone, they have simply gone on ahead. Once again, we have been left behind to continue the work of the kingdom. We have a job to do, and it is our responsibility to be faithful in our responsibilities until our Lord and Master calls us home from His fields. Yes, those who have gone before us will be missed, but we will see them again! - Pastor Tim
"Some day you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
- Billy Graham
